Chino

Hi! My name is Chino, and I have been living at the Foundation for three years now, but during all this time I haven't been ready to look for a family. My past has left its mark and taught me to distrust people. It has taken time, patience, and a lot of work for me to understand that there are also hands that respect, wait, and care. Today, finally, I'm ready to take the next step: finding a home. I need an experienced family, someone who can understand my body language, respect my pace, and spend time with me without rushing. I'm not a dog who seeks physical contact, and I definitely need my space. But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy company. I love walks, discovering the world at my own rhythm, and above all, taking a good dip into the water whenever I get the chance! I'm looking for a quiet home, without cats or children, where I can feel safe. I am young and have lots of energy. I'm also positive for leishmaniasis, although the symptoms are under control and have no major effect on my health status. Part of my nervousness is a result of the stress of having spent so many years growing up in a shelter. Perhaps, when I discover what it means to live in a home, to have a stable routine, and a place where I can truly rest, I can begin to relax and show who I am when I no longer need to be constantly on guard. I've been waiting three years to get here. Three years of learning, growing, and preparing for this moment. Now I just need someone who decides to give me the opportunity I've been waiting for so long.
